mr. hirota


Mr. Hirota was born and raised in Honolulu and is a 1958 graduate of Punahou, received his BS, MS and PhD in civil engineering from the University of Michigan and served as a captain in the US Air Force. In 1971, Mr. Hirota returned to Hawaii to join his father's firm, Sam O. Hirota, Inc. a civil engineering and land surveying company based in Honolulu, of which today he is president. His active interest in education, includes participating in the design of the Punahou's Mamiya Science Center, a "60,000-square foot building dedicated to innovative, active science learning" and the future Punahou K-1 classroom facility. He has been a trustee at Le Jardin Academy, a lecturer in Computer Applications at the University of Hawaii, School of Architecture, and is currently serving on the UH College of Engineering Dean's Advisory Council.
